Photokina 2012: New A3+ printers update Canon Pixma Pro range

Canon has launched two new premium A3+ Pixma Pro photo printers, featuring individual inks and Wi-Fi connectivity.

The Canon Pixma Pro-100 and Canon Pixma Pro-10 both have Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections, enabling you to print from multiple computers or compatible tablets or smartphones over a wireless network.

The Canon Pixma Pro-100 replaces the Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark II, with an 8-ink dye system that produces quality prints at quoted speeds of around 90 seconds for an A3+ bordered colour photo, on a range of media.

The Canon Pixma Pro-10 replaces the Canon Pixma Pro 9500 Mark II, and has a 10-ink pigment-based system with Canon Lucia inks, an updated colour set and Chroma Optimizer for glossier, richer prints, as seen on the Canon Pixma Pro-1. Quoted print speeds are 3 minutes 35 seconds for A3+ bordered images, in colour or black and white.

Canon’s ChromaLife100+ technology is present in both printers, to help images last. Both support a range of media up to A3+ (13 x 19 inches), including Canon’s new Photo Paper Pro Luster LU-101, which has a smooth texture designed for display lighting environments.

New Canon Print Studio Pro software replaces Easy-Photo Print Pro to enable you to edit images and print from Canon’s Digital Photo Professional, Photoshop, Photoshop Lightroom and Photoshop Elements with greater ease and more features than before.

Canon’s new Pro Mode sets up the printer driver’s colour profile to enable you to improve the accuracy of colours on-screen and on paper. You can also install and use ICC profiles for different media.

The Canon Pixma Pro-100 and Canon Pixma Pro-10 are available from November 2012. Prices are yet to be confirmed.
